Desco is a family-owned and operated corporation based in Edmonton, Alberta. Founded in 1956 as Desco Vitro-Glaze Company of Alberta Limited, in 1970 we changed our name to Desco Coatings of Alberta Ltd. to reflect our expanded capabilities. Today we offer a wide range of products and services to meet the needs of our clients, including concrete restoration, a wide variety of finishes, and numerous protective surfaces. We now do business simply as Desco to reflect this broad spectrum of work.
Started by brothers Orest and Nestor Samycia, Desco had humble roots from the beginning. In the early 1990s as Nestor and Orest reached retirement age, Nestor’s sons Daryl and Chris, along with son-in-law Michael, became owners as they continued the tradition of being a family run business. Also at Desco is Nestor’s daughter, Terri, wife to Michael, and their two sons; meaning that Desco will continue true to company values for another generation.
Desco maintains a strong and long-established history of professional problem solving for building owners, managers, developers, contractors, architects, and engineers. Over the years we have continually added innovative products and equipment from industry-leading manufacturers to meet developing customer needs in areas such as waterproofing, corrosion resistant liners and coatings, expansion joint systems, gypsum & cementitious overlayments, fast-cure elastomeric polyurea coatings, concrete densifiers, and concrete staining
